  • Qualifications: As a PADI Scuba Diver, you can dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet). You’ll have access to air fills, equipment rentals, and guided dive experiences.
  • Intermediate Step: Consider this course an intermediate step toward earning your full Open Water Diver certification. It’s perfect if you plan to primarily dive with a guide.
  • Eligibility: To enroll, you must be at least 10 years old, possess adequate swimming skills, and be in good physical health. No prior scuba experience is required, but you can dip your toes in with the Discover Scuba Diving program.
  • Course Phases:
    • Knowledge Development: Cover basic principles through eLearning, independent study, or classroom sessions (first three of five sections from the Open Water Diver course).
    • Confined Water Dives: Learn essential scuba skills (first three of five dives from the Open Water Diver course).
    • Open Water Dives: Put your skills to use and explore underwater (two of four dives from the Open Water Diver course).
  • Languages: Available in multiple languages—contact your local PADI Dive Center for details.
  • Equipment: You’ll become proficient with basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, and tank.
