Overview
he PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is a program that transforms experienced divers into qualified scuba diving instructors. Offered by PADI recognized training facilities like Scuba World Divers, the IDC equips you with the knowledge and skills to lead students safely and effectively underwater.
Description
As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI), you’ll have the expertise to teach all PADI core courses, ranging from Open Water Diver up to the PADI Divemaster level. Your primary role is to impart knowledge and skills, in addition to all the duties that you can do as a dive master
Being a diving instructor means you hold the power to bestow the incredible gift of scuba diving upon others! You’ll help individuals build confidence, conquer fears, and explore an entirely new realm beneath the waves. If you’re a people person who enjoys teaching, this role is tailor-made for you.
To embark on the path to becoming a PADI instructor, your journey begins with obtaining your PADI Divemaster certification. Once you’ve logged at least 100 dives as a PADI Divemaster, you can enroll in a PADI IDC (Instructor Development Course). The IDC encompasses both the PADI Assistant Instructor course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor component. If time or finances are constraints, consider taking the IDC in two steps: start as an assistant instructor and progress to a full-fledged open-water scuba instructor later.
During your PADI IDC, you’ll learn how to conduct PADI courses with safety and professionalism. Building upon the skill demonstrations from your PADI Divemaster training, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the diver education and training programs offered by PADI.
Upon successful completion of the IDC, you’ll undergo a PADI IE (Instructor Examination) to validate your comprehension and ability to apply what you’ve learned during the course.
