Overview

Giannis D Wreck
In April 1983, the Giannis D, carrying timber from Rijeka, Croatia to Saudi Arabia and Yemen, struck Sha’ab Abu Nuhas Reef after veering off course. The crew safely abandoned the ship. Today, the wreck lies in three parts: Bows, Amidships, and Stern. Most divers explore the stern, tilted 45 degrees to the port side, reaching 24 meters deep. The "A" Frame rises to 4 meters below the surface. The stern features the bridge deck and engine room, with the intact funnel and skylight providing access. The bridge is spacious with multiple entry points and an "A" Frame in front. Swimming east with the reef on the right, divers encounter a debris field and reach the bow section, which lies on its port side with the mainmast covered in corals.
